- Conventional wisdom may be that synergistic efforts produce
- positive outcomes, but of an unpredictable nature. Is there a way
- to direct (uh, "leverage" :-)) these efforts so as to ensure that
- a few basic goals of Amigadom are achieved? Such as, that there
- IS an Amiga computer, as well as settop boxes, in a few years;
- that Amiga hardware (CPU, graphics, etc.) catches up to the pack
- ---then leaps ahead (!); that there is a relationship between the
- capabilities and utility of future Amigas and those of our present
- machines (suggesting a more-or-less coherent evolution)?
- Part of the point seems to be that one company is not going
- to prevail against the market might of MicroSoft, nor will it
- create or exploit an entire new field of computer/communications
- technology. Perhaps a broad "alliance" of individuals with
- similar goals and principles (and even aesthetics?) might
- accomplish the task. The principles are things like: systems
- oughtta be economical, they shouldn't break easy, simple is good,
- but there's generally a lot goin' on around here, you should think
- about what you're going to do next, we can do better, etc. Those
- are consonant with what the Amiga has been all along. The last two
- years haven't been easy, and it's not getting easier yet. It's no
- sure bet that Ami will survive; it's scary. It will be interesting
- to watch though, and more interesting to be part of. Good luck to
- you (us).
-
- One more thing. The respirator DOES get turned off once
- the patient can again breathe on her own.
